Book by Eric Schlosser ~ “Command and Control” “Nuclear Weapons the Damascus Accident, and the Illusion of Safety” ::
A U.S. Air Force Nuclear Missile Technician dropped a socket wrench off a subterranean missile platform.  The wrench fell 70 feet, ricocheted, and pierced a hole in the warhead containing nuclear missile’s skin.  It leaked toxic and highly flammable gas that filled the silo in Damascus Arkansas in 1980. If the Nuclear Bomb had gone off, it would have wiped out Arkansas. [Clinton was governor, and Chelsea was 1 year old.]  A U.S. National Nuclear Laboratory had previously cited the Titan Missile System as lacking in safety.  The Nuclear Command and Control System is subject to being hacked.  More recently, 50 missiles went “off line” because of an improperly installed computer chip.  The hacking vulnerability of U.S. Nuclear Command & Control has not been evaluated.
